In November 2014 I had the opportunity to visit and stay onboard the original Queen Mary cruise ship, which is now docked permanently at Long Beach California.  The ship is now a hotel. museum and restaurant.  They also have interesting guided tours of the ship that detail its fascinating history.  Keep your eye out – you might see one of the famous ghosts that walk the corridors!

Back then, it was all aboard the Crown Princess for a cruise to the Mexican Riviera, with stops in Cabo San Lucas and Mazatlan. On a fantastic shore excursion on a private yacht, I visited the Cabo San Lucas Arch, which is as iconic and majestic in person as it is in post cards. This is where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean, and as an added bonus, we did some Whale watching and snorkelling.

Whilst I was in Mazatlan, I did a city tour, where the highlight for me was being witness to the local Cliff Divers. It was fascinating to watch how they prepared themselves and got the tourist involved in the entire experience.
