"I travelled on a Top Deck coach tour through Europe and visited London, Paris, Nice, Lauterbrunnen, Florence, Rome, Venice, Tyrol, Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam. I decided to travel in late August for the great weather, it’s not too hot or cold, and also to enjoy the longer days.
My highlights were visiting the “Top of Europe” on the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland, learning the amazing history of Berlin and seeing the amazing icons of the Eiffel Tower and the Colosseum. Take a good pair of walking shoes, as walking is definitely the best way of exploring all the cities. Learn a few words for the countries that you are visiting. You would be amazed at the response by just saying "hello" and "thank you" in their language.
Get ready to experience the diversity of Europe, one moment you may be walking next to a building that has been standing for over 500 years and right next door could be a modern hotel. There is a great mix of the old and new.
As in most places around the world, keep yourself aware of your surroundings and what you are carrying. Unfortunately pick pocketers are everywhere and when you are on holiday you do let your guard down a bit… Don’t carry a big handbag with you, try for a smaller bag and only take the bare essentials. Always keep your hand on the bag so you can always feel if someone is trying to open. If you need to take a larger backpack with you, when walking in busy areas always move it onto your front.
My next trip? I’m planning to cruise from Hawaii back to Sydney on a Pacific cruise through Tahiti… I can’t wait!"
