Denis' journey to Hawaii

Hawaiʻi has so much to offer.  We enjoyed a week in Honolulu and discovered many experiences the Aloha state had to offer.

Beautiful beaches – we enjoyed a swim at the world-famous Waikiki Beach and watched surfers and stand-up paddle boarders in action on the waves.  If you have the time, it is well worth renting a car or taking a tour to include Oáhu’s North Shore.  The big waves attract the world’s best surfers every winter.

Shopping
– the International Market Place at Waikiki Beach and Ala Moana Centre, the world's largest open-air shopping centre with more than 350 shops and restaurants to explore, including four department stores, were the main drawcards for us.

Food – where do I start, from high quality coffee shops, bars and grills to an amazing range of highly acclaimed fine dining restaurants.  One memorable breakfast we had was at the iconic Duke’s Waikiki Restaurant at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Resort.

Hawaiian Culture – there are many activities you can take part in like lei-making and hula dancing classes.  We attended a lū’au at Paradise Cove; a traditional Hawaiian party, feast and cultural performance.

History
– the first inhabitants arrived from Polynesia as early as 400BC.  As we were interested in World War 2 events, we took a bus tour to Pearl Harbor to learn about the 1941 attack at the naval base and airfields.

If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, Hawaii is for you.
